Tampere University and Nokia Bell Labs Adapt MIMO Space-Time Coding to Rydberg Atomic Quantum Receivers in a September 2026 Paper
A Tampere University and Nokia Bell Labs team posted a receiver architecture that gives Rydberg atomic quantum receivers the full diversity gain of a MIMO link, working around the magnitude-only readout of atomic sensors with a strong reference field and real orthogonal space-time coding. We read it against the DARPA, Army, NIST, and Infleqtion work that already put the atomic front end in the field, and set out what still separates a 5 GHz simulation from an RF spectrum sensing terminal a program office can rely on.
